The 2021 Land Rover Discovery has received a facelift, introducing new features and improvements while maintaining its status as an all-around capable SUV. Since its launch in 2017, the Discovery has become a popular choice for families and off-road enthusiasts alike.
The exterior updates include new headlamps, DRLs, a redesigned grill, a tweaked bumper, and new lamps at the back. The interior has been refreshed with the latest Pivi Pro infotainment system, a digital dashboard, and higher quality soft-touch materials. With seven seats and a charger for every occupant, the Discovery remains an ideal choice for large families.
Under the bonnet, the former 2.0-litre turbo-diesel and 3.0-litre V6 turbo-diesel engines have been replaced with two 3.0-litre Ingenium inline six-cylinder options, featuring 48-volt mild-hybrid technology. A petrol engine has also been reintroduced to the Australian market, offering 265 kW of power and 500 Nm of torque. The petrol variant can reach 0-100 km/h in just 6.5 seconds and has a top speed of 209 km/h.
Despite the performance improvements, Land Rover has not increased the sportiness of the Discovery, maintaining its comfortable and supple ride. The petrol engine’s impressive refinement and quietness make it an attractive choice over the diesel options.
The 2021 Land Rover Discovery is expected to arrive in Australia with prices starting just under $100,000. Although this is a significant increase from the previous model, the new Discovery comes with an improved engine and an additional $32,000 worth of options, making it a worthy competitor to rivals like the Audi Q7.
