Nissan Patrol Ti-L 2020 Review

The 2020 Nissan Patrol Ti-L is a full-size 4×4 petrol-powered SUV that boasts a luxurious cabin, a 3.5-ton towing limit, and excellent off-road capabilities. The Y62 Series Patrol has been a popular choice in Australia since 2013, and its latest update brings new frontal styling, retuned suspension, and advanced technology to help it compete with its archrival, the Toyota Land Cruiser 200.

The Patrol Ti-L features a 5.6-litre V8 petrol engine and a 7-speed automatic transmission. Pricing has increased for both Patrol trim grades, but they continue to undercut their respective Land Cruiser 200 equivalents significantly. The Ti-L offers a comprehensive suite of the latest safety systems, including autonomous braking, collision warning, rear cross-traffic alert, pedestrian detection, dynamic lane departure warning, blind spot monitoring, and adaptive cruise control.

Off-road, the Patrol Ti-L is well-equipped with a dual-range transfer case, healthy off-road geometry, and a choice of off-road drive modes. It also features an electronic locking rear diff for added traction. The ride is plush and comfortable, thanks to the coil spring double wishbone suspension and Nissan’s hydraulic body motion control setup.

Inside, the Patrol Ti-L offers seating for up to seven passengers, with ample noise suppression, high levels of refinement, and a luxurious, roomy interior. However, it does show its age in some aspects, such as the lack of Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility and a dated digital screen in the instrumentation.

Overall, the 2020 Nissan Patrol Ti-L is a fantastic choice for those seeking a comfortable, high-performance SUV that’s just as capable off-road as it is on the highway.
